Kim Winokur LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rollins College and a Master of Arts degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. She has extensive experience in a broad spectrum of mental health issues including childhood behavioral problems, depressive disorders, and dealing with terminal life issues or chronic acute illness including the caretaker's role as well as the grieving process. These services include interaction with medical providers and mediating life-threatening medical decisions with family members, helping loved ones and patients understand and accept end of life decisions.

She has extensive training in facilitating psychotherapy, psycho-educational, and empowerment groups to benefit individuals struggling with life stressors. Kim's past work experience, also, consists of supporting emotionally disturbed students through interactive and interpersonal guidance and instruction in the public school system. These efforts focused on stabilizing students in crisis situations and helping them maintain a calm daily environment. Her aim is to support clients through self-discovery, insight, hope, and faith based counseling.

Living life with its deep valleys amidst periods of breathtaking mountaintops, individual experiences vary considerably. As such, each client should be seen from a personal perspective embedded in his or her own environmental influences. Kim chose the profession of counseling because she has witnessed firsthand the effects of its healing ointment in others' lives. Trained with a systematic overview of Christian doctrine and the integration of psychology and theology, she couples a spiritual focus to foster wellness and wholeness.

As an individual is simply heard and gently guided toward the pathway of positive change, hope can be the expectation and evidence of the future. Scripture encourages that the "God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope" (Romans 15:13). As life issues present us with chaos and defeat, the human experience is capable of rebounding with an even greater harvest of joy and life satisfaction. This is the hope and intent of joining in the efforts of individual counseling - to increase one's happiness and satisfaction of life amidst the struggles of daily problems. Make your decision to grow in personal strength and overcome crises and defeat. Hope may overflow and prevail in your future.
