Halie Banaghan RMHCI

Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

My path into the field began years before I ever called myself a therapist. As a Behavioral Health Technician in a psychiatric residential setting, I spent countless hours with individuals living through severe and persistent mental illness, personality disorders, co-occurring conditions, and those raw moments that make someone question whether they matter.

Those years showed me that healing is not procedural. It is human, and it is relational. It is the relief of being met with presence instead of pressure, and safety instead of shame. Since then, as a therapist, I have walked with clients through every level of care, from hospital beds to outpatient offices, all in preparation to show up for whatever you are holding, even the parts you do not say out loud.

I specialize in trauma, addictions, emotional dysregulation, dual diagnosis, and high-acuity needs. I am EMDR-trained and pursuing advanced addiction training, knowing how closely trauma and substance use are woven together. However, support does not require a crisis. While those are the deep trenches I am trained for, many come in with the quieter struggles of daily life, and those matter just as much.

I bring a steady, down-to-earth presence into the room, meeting you as a human first and a therapist second. I am not afraid to be direct or to challenge you when it serves your growth, but I will always honor your pace and readiness. I move between being a hands-on guide and a quiet observer, depending on what style serves you best.

Whether you are here for yourself, with your family, or on behalf of a child or teen, you have a place here. My approach draws from CBT, DBT, ACT, MI, solution-focused therapy, and family systems, all anchored in the warmth of Adlerian and Rogerian thought. At the heart of these theories is the belief that you already hold your own wisdom. We all carry a deep need to matter, to belong, and to understand our place in a complex world. I am here to help you rediscover your voice and reconnect with that truth.

Come as you are. There is room for every version of you here. You don't need to do this alone, come sit with me and we'll figure it out together.
